Bio
Welcome to my website!
I'm Jinda Cui (/ˈdʒɪndɑ ˈtsuːɪ/), a scientist at Honda Research Institute in San Jose, CA. I graduated from Lehigh University in August 2022 with a Ph.D. in Computer Science. In 2019, I transferred from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute to Lehigh with my advisor, Professor Jeff Trinkle, and became one of the first students in Lehigh's new Robotics Laboratory, AIRLab. In AIRLab, I coordinated group meetings and events and managed the lab's website and YouTube channel. I hold a master's degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Cornell University and a bachelor's degree from Tianjin University. I'm a member of Upsilon Pi Epsilon.
I explored various topics during my robotics journey, including visual and tactile perception, motion planning, and control. My research trajectory has finally converged to robot learning for manipulation, with the goal of bringing smart robot manipulators into our homes and businesses in the near future. I believe next-generation personal robots should be actively compliant and adaptive.
I'm intuition-oriented, and I like thought experiments.
